puppet animation no3
This is a puppet animation of my wooden puppet. I used wire for her arms and legs which allowed the wood pieces to move better and gave her more flexibility when stringing her.

Limberjack puppets
The Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History held a festival with several tables with information about the history inside the Museum as well as a lot of examples of some of the items during the time period. At the festival there were chuckwagons, cattle, tools being made, an astrology area to look at the moon, women making belts and other items out of yarn, and finally a celtic band which performed a wonderful puppet show. The puppets used are called Limber Jack Puppets. They are made out of wood and have one handle in the back to hold the puppet while hitting the piece of wood underneath the puppets feet to make the puppet move. Above is a video demonstrating the movement of the puppet.

Animating our puppets is a very important part of learning about the movement of puppets as well as how they will perform in our puppet show. Frankie and I battled our puppets and animated our puppets in this "puppet fight" in order to learn more about how to string our puppets and perform them for an audience.

Indonesian Shadow Puppet Show
This could be a possible idea for our puppet show. This is an example of a shadow puppet show which could be easily performed in the Museum. Lighting and the stage setting would be very important but it is a possible idea of one way to perform our show.
puppet animation
This was my first attempt at making puppet animation. My first puppet, made out of an old barbie doll, was animated by taking several pictures of the doll at different positions in order to make the doll seem life like and to have motion.

Salzburg Marionette Theatre: "The Sound of Music"
My goal in this class is to achieve a life like puppet that will be able to have life like movement. In this video below, it shows a marionette show of The Sound of Music. This is a perfect example of what type of movement and the quality of puppets I am trying to achieve.

What is the Puppet Home Project?
The Puppet Home Project is a project where I will investigate the making of an alternate self, and in true architectural logic I will learn to make a home for this self: a home as a theater. The client in this case will be the Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History whose extraordinary collection of ancient artifacts will become the puppet’s surrogate world.First I will look at myself through the meproject which consists of several drawings and self portraits. Then I will study how puppets work and then take a look at The Museums of Natural History and their collections. Finally we I will design a cast of puppets along with my other architecture classmates, make a home-stage, and write a script we will perform for a live audience.
